Terms of Service
Last updated: July 16, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Narrative DNA (the "Service"), operated by Narrative DNA LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, uploading a script, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service Does
Narrative DNA analyzes screenplays and scripts you upload and returns AI-assisted insights — including emotional arc analysis, character breakdowns, structural analysis, reader-style coverage, multi-script ("Slate") comparisons, and series/ franchise arc tracking. Some analyses are generated using third-party AI models (see our Privacy Policy for details).
3. Accounts
You may use a limited number of analyses without an account. Beyond that, you must sign in (via Google or email, through our authentication provider Clerk) to continue using the Service. You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
4. Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the scripts, screenplays, and other material you upload ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership interest in Your Content.
By uploading Your Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and transmit it (including to third-party AI providers) solely for the purpose of generating the analysis you requested and operating the Service. We do not sell Your Content, use it to train third-party foundation models beyond the individual request needed to generate your analysis, or share it with anyone except the service providers necessary to deliver the Service to you.
You represent that you have the right to upload Your Content and that doing so does not infringe or violate any third party's rights (including copyright and confidentiality obligations).
5. AI-Generated Output
Coverage verdicts, synthesis, and other AI-generated analysis are opinions produced by automated systems. They are provided for informational purposes only and are not professional script coverage, legal, financial, or business advice, and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or free of error. You are solely responsible for any decisions made in reliance on output from the Service.
6. Payment & Subscriptions
Paid plans (pay-per-script, credit packs, and monthly subscriptions) are billed through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. One-time purchases (pay-per-script, credit packs) are generally non-refundable once an analysis has been generated, except where required by law. Contact us if you believe you were billed in error.
7. Educator & Promotional Licenses
License codes (including educator and annual licenses) are issued at our discretion, are non-transferable, and may be revoked if misused or shared publicly.
8. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content you don't have the right to upload
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, reverse-engineer the Service, or scrape it at scale
- Interfere with the Service's operation or security
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
